Sheep scans performed by Yvette and Catherine, on a beautiful sunny day at the Museum of Kent Life in Maidstone.
These ewes were quite late into their gestation (4 months), so the fetuses are very well developed. Here, you can see the lamb’s heart beating inside its rib cage:



Sheep are ruminants, so placentation occurs through attachment points called placentomes, which consists of the fetal cotyledon and the maternal caruncle, seen here:
